The Art of Tim Burton-TBD Challenge

This is my first time entering The Burtonesque Dolls challenge.  The challenge was to take inspiration from the art of Tim Burton.  Here's what I came up with-
Aren't they stinkin cute?  Maybe just to me-I like weird things.  I'm don't think Tim Burton drew this, I'm actually not sure who actually DID draw it.  However, it totally reminds me of something you'd see in his works, so I went with it.  This was the very first thing I ever colored with my Copics, couple years ago.  It was given to me by a Creepy friend of mine, and I've been hanging onto them ever since, for the right time.  Well the time has come.  I colored up a couple purty flowers, and added a Creepy Glowskull to boot.  Must say, I got in an argument with my Sizzix machine during the making of this card.  I won, but not without a few injuries.  Now, let's hope I made the deadline.  Happy Monday folks.

SBS Sketch Challenge & HDH073 Smudgetastic

Betty's daughter, Rio, is turning 13. She's asked her Mom if all the money she gets for her birthday can go to St. Jude's.  How do you say no to that?  Absolutely precious.  So, Betty had a limited edition Rio Birthday digi drawn up, available only until 2/8/11, her actual birthday, with all the proceeds going to St. Jude's as well.  Betty has asked anyone who purchases this digi to make a birthday card for Rio, so on her special day she's got lots of special things, to let her know how special she is.  I got right on it.  I decided to use the sketch challenge over at Simply Betty Challenges as my layout, and here ya go--

I love this image.  It's so cute.  I'm also entering this in this week's HDH challenge, Smudgetastic.  Make your project using pastels, or charcoal, or the like.  I smudged those little tickets down there with some pastels I just got (and I turned blue and pink as well).  I've never used pastels before, so that's as far as I got.  I'm gonna go shower off my new Oompa Loompa look now.

HDH072-Hell Hath No Fury..

Just in the nick of time, and late for a party, I finished my entry for this weeks challenge at Haunted Design House.  The theme? Hell Hath No Fury...like a woman's scorn.  Anything to do with a bad ass bitch who's been burned one too many.  I don't know if this counts as dark or gothic, but the quote is my favorite-

I've always said that.  It's true, though!  Played with some buttons and twine, ain't that fun? I like the 50's housewife feel of this image. Worked perfectly with my sentiment. Uh oh, the Husband is calling.  Better go get back where I belong.

In the kitchen.

A Quickie...

My Dad calls me last week and says-

"Hey.  I need you to make a birthday card for Rita."
Rita is Dad's girlfriend.  I like her a lot.  So, of course I had to meet his demands, though he only gave me a few days to do it.  Dads.  I asked him what she likes, and he says she has pictures and statues of elephants all over her house(funny I never noticed when I was there..must get my eyes checked...), only they have to have the trunks up.  It's good luck?  She says so.  Off to Google I went, hoping for some type of image to help, because I do not have any such image in my collection.  Here's what I came up with--

I got to use my new Sizzix dies, and my new flowers, and brads, and paper, all stuff I got for Xmas.  I thought this would be pretty, and I was right.  Dad loved it, and so did Rita.  I'm off, must get on the two challenges I'm trying to accomplish this week.  Happy crafting!

Honey Sparks

This little philly is the Kenny K Krash Kitten I won.  I named her, or rather they chose the name I created for her in their Name The Kittenz contest.

I thought she'd look good with a muscle car coming off the line behind her.  Vroom.

HDH071-Bizarre Birthday

The challenge this week over at Haunted Design House is Bizarre Birthday.  This came at the perfect time for me.  It's my brother-in-laws birthday Sunday.  He, like my husband, likes metal music, and dark scary things.  It'd take me a really long time to fully explain him, so no one will get scared by the card, but oh well.  Here goes--

One of the BILs favorite bands, in the world, is Cannibal Corpse.  This photo comes from the album Kill, and happens to be the one he wants tattooed on his ribs.  Make Them Suffer is a C.Corpse song, though I don't know if it's on said album.  I made some bloody paper(love doing that), and used some new splat stamps to darken up some steampunk paper.  I did add some glitter to try to glisten up the blood, but that did not turn out in the picture.  Freaky as it is, I really dig this card.  I hit the nail on the head with this one for my BIL.  I'm gaining some confidence, and that's cool too.

My Hero

It's my wonderful Husband's birthday today.  I'm taking him to dinner at his favorite restaurant, and a surprise party after.  This is the card I made for him.  He's my hero, my rock, my saviour, and my best friend.  I couldn't have asked for a better man for me.
The image is SuperHero from Kenny K.  Yes, he does hunky dudes too. =)
